The Panel for the Selection of Nominees for appointment as Chairperson and Members of the National Land Commission has extended the application period for the Chairperson (1 position) and Members (8 positions) to Monday, 15th July 2019 at 5:00pm (East African Time).
This extension follows the High Court decision in Petition No. 116 of 2019 delivered on 20th June, 2019 that declared the provisions of Section 8 (3) (c) of the National Land Commission Act, 2012 as unconstitutional, null and void. The section prohibits the appointment of a person as a member or chairperson of the NLC if the person has at any time within the preceding five years, held or stood for election as a member of Parliament, a county assembly or as a governor.
