Exporters of fresh produce have warned that farmers’ earnings will be cut by over Sh350 million following the implementation of the 0.25 percent export levy.
The levy, which has been occasioned by the Horticultural Crops Regulations 2019, took effect on January 1. It is four times higher than the previous Agricultural Produce Cess and is charged basing on the value of free on board (FOB) consignment.
