An acute shortage of magistrates is to blame for a backlog of cases in courts nationwide, Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi has said.
Ms Amadi revealed that according to the establishment, the country should have at least 1,200 magistrates to serve about 50 million Kenyans but only 500 magistrates are in service.
