The 300-bed Covid-19 isolation centre at the Technical University of Mombasa (Tum) has been shut down to pave the way for the resumption of in-person learning.
The isolation centre, which was the largest in Mombasa County, was launched by Governor Hassan Joho in April to supplement capacity to treat coronavirus patients at the Coast General Hospital.
Confirming its closure, Tum Vice-Chancellor Laila Abubakar said the more than 300 beds had already been removed from the engineering block as the institution reopens this week…
