The national working group on public schools titling has kicked off a nationwide rapid audit of all public schools to ascertain their titling status from 18th – 24th September 2018.The team intends to expedite the titling process and ensure that all public schools are titled. The audit is being carried out by a multi-stakeholder team comprising of the National Land Commission, the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, the Ministry of Education, and the Institute of Surveyors of Kenya, working together under the Shule Yangu Campaign. This multi-stakeholder team is working to collect, analyse, verify, and validate data on titling status of public schools so as to issue titles to the schools that are yet to have title deeds. This exercise will run from 18th to 24th September 2018.
The Shule Yangu Alliance is a stakeholder group working to protect schools against illegal land-grabs, support Government to issue title-deeds to public schools and support communities to own their schools. The Alliance seeks to have 10,000 public schools issued with title deeds and 5,000 schools fenced across the 47 counties.
