The National Lands Commission has given grabbers in Thika 21 days to return stolen land failure to which all structures erected in the areas would be demolished. The ultimatum comes after residents of Ngoingwa estate in Thika asked the government to step in and reclaim grabbed public land in the area.
Area MCA Andrew Kimani claimed the NLC had already asked the grabbers to surrender the title deeds. The MCA insisted that he would serve his people diligently and was in support of the President’s fight against corruption.
The MCA pointed an accusing finger at his predecessors whom he accused of grabbing public land and selling them to private developers making it hard for the government to initiate development projects for residents. Among the parcels of land that has allegedly been stolen according to the residents included children playing grounds and a market.
